At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience a position as Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering Unit Operation is open for appointment from 1 October 2017 or soon hereafter. The Department consists of five sections of which three are located in Aalborg with research and teaching in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Environmental Technology and Biology, one in Copenhagen on Sustainable Biotechnology and one in Esbjerg on Chemical Engineering. Place of employment of the position is Section of Chemistry in Aalborg.
We seek a scientist with qualifications at Associate Professor level to strengthen our research in chemical engineering and unit operations. The applicant must hold a PhD degree or similar and have a strong background in chemistry and chemical engineering.
The applicant must have demonstrated excellent research at an international level in one or more of the areas mentioned below:
Scale-up of unit operations
Numerical modelling of chemical processes
The applicant will initially be affiliated with the Separation Science Group at Section of Chemistry but is expected to develop his or her own research group. The successful applicant is expected to be able to conduct research and innovation collaborations with industry. The applicant should develop an interdisciplinary approach to solving real life problems interacting with colleagues of the department, as well as, being able to develop a strong national and international academic network. The successful applicant must have a documented record in attracting external funding of his/hers research through national and/or international funding agencies and/or industrial collaborations and will be expected to be able to further be able to attract external funding.
The applicant will be responsible for research-based teaching in e.g. basic chemistry and process technology. The applicant will be responsible for supervision of both undergraduate and graduate students. Previous teaching experience will be an advantage.

Qualification requirements: The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.
