BioMediTech (http://www.biomeditech.fi/about_us/), a joint institute of Tampere University of Technology and University of Tampere, brings together a powerful mix of multidisciplinary expertise in life sciences and medical technology. Over 250 scientists conduct research and education in the fields of cell and molecular biology, genetics, biomaterials, biosensors, computational systems, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, and regenerative medicine. During the last ten years the research groups of BioMediTech have produced close to 1500 publications in international peer-reviewed journals.

Droplet-based microfluidics is a rapidly advancing field, where µl to sub-µl droplets are generated and analyzed in a highly parallel manner. The drops can be either emulsions or bound to a surface. The current challenge is to find droplet manipulation methods that are reliable and scalable to a high degree of parallelism. TUT BioMediTech is seeking a new member to a research group working on this topic. If you are interested in about this modern and timely topic, please make a contact.

Requirements

  • You have M. Sc. degree or will graduate soon (e.g. draft of thesis existing)
  • You have studies in one or more of the following fields: microfluidics, materials science, physics (especially wetting and interfacial phenomena), (bio-)chemistry, control engineering, mechatronics, microfabrication 
  • Hands-on experience, ability to build things and work in a research laboratory 
  • You are interested in a career in science 

We offer

Salary

The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, the position of a Doctoral Student is placed on the job demands levels 1-4. In addition, employees receive performance based salary.

Trial Period

Trial period of four (4) months applies for all new employees. The doctoral degree study right has to be applied for and received within the trial period.
